FAQs

Do I have to qualify to get food at the pantry?

It is simple to qualify. Refer to the HOW TO QUALIFY page for complete information.

How often can a client get food at the pantry?

All food pantry clients are welcome to shop at the food pantry twice per month.

May I bring my children when I come to get food at the pantry?

You may bring well-behaved children to the food pantry but they must stay at your side while you are there.

Does the food pantry have baby food/formula/diapers?

No, we do not but the Walworth County Food Pantry in Elkhorn 262.723.4488 is a diaper bank and may be able to help you with food and formula as well.

Can I get laundry products and toiletries at the pantry, or is it just food?

Currently, we offer non-perishable food items, fresh produce, and meat. Occasionally, we receive donations that include laundry soap and toiletries but only then are they available at the pantry.

What do I do if I want to organize a food drive?

How do I make a monetary or food donation to the Harold Johnson Delavan Food Pantry?

Refer to the DONATE page for information and suggestions.

If I make a monetary donation to the pantry is it tax deductible?

The pantry is a 501(c)(3) organization. All donations are fully tax deductible.

Do you accept donations of new or slightly used books, dishes, clothing, etc.?

We accept only food donations. If you have other things you would like to donate, we suggest Inspiration Ministries in Williams Bay or Goodwill in Delavan.

May I volunteer to help at the food pantry?

YES! Fill out the form on the VOLUNTEER tab and you will be contacted.

Are you open only on Saturdays?

We are open every Saturday from 8:30 – 10:30 a.m. If you have an emergency, refer to the RESOURCES tab for a listing of other food pantries that may be able to help during the week.

Do you offer gas cards or help with rent?

We only have food at the pantry. If you need other types of assistance, refer to the RESOURCES page for a listing of area resources.

Mission

We are an ecumenical group of volunteers dedicated to meeting the nutritional needs of others. Through Christ’s love and the generosity of the community, we distribute food donations in a just, friendly, and non-judgemental atmosphere without regard to race, color, or creed.

This food pantry is 100% volunteer driven.
